Most riders continue to 10–12 hours for fully independent riding. See the full learning timeline for what comes after the course.

Beginner Course FAQ
Questions before you book
Do I need to be fit to take this course?
No specific fitness level is required. Board-sport experience (surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding) can cut learning time by 2–3 hours, but it's not necessary.
What if 9 hours isn't enough?
Progression speed varies by rider. Extra hours can be added at the standard private lesson rate.
Is the course only for solo travellers?
No. Couples can book individually or take the 6-hour group version together as part of the Learn Together Escape package.
What's the difference between this and a private lesson?
This course is the structured 9-hour IKO Level 1 to 3 progression. Private lessons can be booked in any hourly amount for a refresher, extra practice, or a shorter first session: see private kitesurf lessons.
