Questions about kitesurfing accommodation in Kalpitiya
Should I stay on the lagoon or near the beach?
Lagoon-side accommodation is more convenient for kitesurfing. Most lessons and flat-water riding happen on the lagoon, not the open sea. Valampuri is lagoon-side, with boat transfers to ocean-side spots like Vella Island and Dream Spot included in longer courses and trip packages.
What private rooms do you have?
Valampuri has seven private room types: Poolside Comfort Chalet (19 sqm, AC, from €35 pp), Open-Air Cabana (15 sqm, AC, from €30 pp), Garden Eco Chalet (15 sqm, from €20 pp), Comfort Terrace Double (17 sqm, from €25 pp), Family Eco Chalet (23 sqm, from €25 pp), Garden Family Suite (34 sqm, €90 for up to 6), and Essential Double (17 sqm, from €18 pp).
Do the rooms have air conditioning?
You can have either. Valampuri offers both AC and non-AC rooms: Poolside Comfort Chalet and Open-Air Cabana come with AC, and AC can be added to most other room types for a small supplement. Tell us your preference when you book.
Do you take monthly or long-term bookings?
Yes, and we discount them. Rates depend on the room, the season, how many of you there are and whether you want meals, so we quote each one. Message us with your dates and how long you want to stay and we will send you a price.
What does an extra night cost?
€40 per additional night on half board (breakfast and dinner), which works out to €20 per person for two people sharing.
Are family rooms available?
Yes. The Family Eco Chalet (23 sqm, queen + double bed, from €25 pp, AC available +€7) sleeps families of 3–4. The Garden Family Suite (34 sqm, two singles + two doubles, €90 for up to 6 guests) is the largest room and suits bigger families or friend groups.
Can non-kiters enjoy the resort?
Yes. Non-kiters can use the pool, eat at the seafood restaurant, kayak the lagoon (€10 pp), join a dolphin watching trip, take a lagoon mangrove tour (from $30 pp), visit Wilpattu National Park for a safari, or explore the 10,000 sqm garden.
Are kite holidays suitable for couples?
Yes. One partner can kite while the other enjoys the pool, kayaking (€10 pp), lagoon tours (from $30 pp), or dolphin watching. The Learn Together Escape (€245 pp, 2 sharing) lets couples learn together, and the Open-Air Cabana (€30 pp double, "Best for Couples") offers a private terrace with hammock and lagoon views.
Can I work remotely from Valampuri?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi reaches most of the property, rooms included, and the garden and common areas are quiet enough to work in. The Nomad Extended Stay package is 10 nights in an eco chalet with half board and high-speed internet from €250 per person. Some guests kite in the morning and work in the afternoon.
